Happy New Year 2024

We have entered a new year, 2024. That means a new month, a new season of your life, a new opportunity to live and become the man or woman God is calling you to be. The old year is gone, including the mistakes that were made in 2023. The faith you had in 2023 is hopefully renewed in 2024. I can imagine there are a lot of things you had to leave in 2023, or things you could not take into 2024. Let us know in the comments some of the things you have left behind in the old year.

Some things I have left behind are past regrets that are now seen as opportunities for growth, past mistakes that have become lessons learned, past toxic relationships that have been replaced by supportive relationships to help me grow, past grudges that have been replaced by forgiveness. If any of this resonates with you, let us know in the comments.

As I am sure many did, I suffered a lot of loss in 2023. I lost 2 friends and a niece in 2023. I lost a close friend at the beginning of the year, my niece in the middle of the year, and another close friend at the end of the year. They were all sudden and very painful to endure. However, I have learned to continue living in spite of the loss because I know they are having a great time with Jesus right now. I also experienced a great loss of function in 2023. As you may have read in a previous blog or heard in a previous podcast, my broken heart was partially fixed on Valentine’s Day in 2023, and went through a second repair on March 6. I learned in December that my heart is still fixed, even though I was scared into thinking something else was wrong with it. That is something else I have left behind in 2023, my fear of heart failure. I know the God I serve is bigger than anything I can come up against. I also know that He will never leave me nor forsake me and I will remain on this earth until my work is done. I must finish my race and complete my course. Whenever God decides to take me home to Glory, I can rest in knowing that I will truly be home with Jesus.

In addition to the losses, I also experienced great gains in 2023. I gained new clients for my business. I gained new friends with the new Silver Sneakers class I started teaching. The Lord blessed me with a new great nephew at the beginning of the year and a new great niece at the end of the year. I gained another year of life and became an official senior. Yes, I count that a gain because I consider every year of life as a blessing from God. I have already out-lived both of my parents. I got to spend another year with my children and grandchildren. I got another year to fellowship with my brothers and sisters in Christ. I got another year to celebrate my siblings, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Other gains in 2023 include renewed certifications and new certifications. My youngest daughter finished her studies at Ohio University and is starting her journey to become a nurse. I also gained better health in 2023. Prior to Valentine’s Day, my heart was a ticking time bomb and I had no idea, but God knew, and He kept me. In the process, I did lose some functions, but I gained so much more. I gained more strength and commitment. God made sure my heart was fixed before the Silver Sneakers opportunity came along. His timing is always perfect. Did you notice how there were a lot more gains from 2023 than losses? That is how life can be when you put God first. His grace is sufficient to keep us and his mercies are new every morning. Let us know in the comments about some gains you experienced in 2023.

Whatever happened in 2023, we are in a new year. It is time for new beginnings, new goals, new outcomes. Tell us in the comments about some things you are looking forward to in 2024. I am looking forward to reaching my fitness goals, reaching goals I have set for my business, meeting new people, helping more people reach their fitness goals, helping new students with their schoolwork. I am looking forward to better health in 2024, and better circumstances than what I experienced in 2023.
