Be Not Deceived!

Today, I want to talk about DECEPTION, or being DECEIVED. First, I want to acknowledge the source of the image I am using since it is so fitting to show some peoples’ versions of the truth are made up solely of lies. This is from a Pixabay image online, which I found using a Google search…

Now, onto more relevant news! The bible has several scriptures warning us to “…be not deceived…”

• Deuteronomy 11:16
• Luke 21:8
• 1 Corinthians 6:9
• 1 Corinthians 15:33
• Galatians 6:7

There are MANY more scriptures that mention people actually being deceived (65 to be exact). I just simply searched for the word ‘deceive’ in the King James Version of the Holy Bible on biblegateway.com… If I count the 5 that tell us “be not deceived” the total number of references goes up to 70…

When I initially thought to talk about this subject, I was thinking of something I saw on Facebook. However, being the Christian that I am, I wanted to see what the bible has to say about being deceived. Now that I know just ho heavily it is referenced in the bible, I can better understand why it is happening in the world today.

So, what caused me to go down this path? I saw a post today that rubbed me the wrong way. There was an image of a supposedly sick little girl in a hospital gown with tubes protruding from underneath, like an IV and a heart monitor, and she also had a bandage on her chest. What got me was the caption that read:

“I DON’T HAVE ANYONE TO PRAY FOR ME

PLEASE 1 LIKE, AMEN AND SHARE”

After reading that, my first thought was, “What about the person taking the pic? They won’t pray for you?” Then of course my next thought was, “Is this even real or did someone make a fake pic to get people to add likes and shares to their page?” Then I thought, “Why should I LIKE this? I don’t like this!” Then I thought, “Why should I type AMEN, declaring that IT IS SO? I do not agree with what this picture is saying, and I don’t want to declare that this child has no one to pray for her!” Was I just supposed to look at the picture and SHARE it because I think other people need to see this? I mean, what is really going on here? DECEPTION, that’s what!

I was then reminded about many other posts I had seen in the past. Most recently was a pic of a dog who was supposed to have some type of malformity on its face, but it was clearly a slice of bologna being used to make it look like the dog had suffered burns and hair loss from a fire!! Really people!!?? Another one I was reminded of, or should I say a CRAZE I was reminded of, was where people would set fried food on fire and say “WATCH OUT” because they are putting toxic stuff in our food… Now that just seemed like nonsense to me. Have they never heard of a GREASE FIRE!!?? I mean really? Is a video online all it takes to sway the people into madness, no matter how ridiculous the content!? Please pray with me for the people who are so easily swayed form the truth!

Question: What is a lie? It is a willful deception. It is something people use to intentionally deceive someone, including themselves.

Another Question: Where do lies come from? Why do lies exist? Ok, that was 2 questions… 🙂

The bible tells us in John 8:44 that Satan (the devil) is the father of all lies, meaning he is the source. All lies come from the devil. This is the same scripture that tells us the devil is a LIAR and the truth is not in him. All of these people who are trying to deceive you are working for the devil and he is their father. Yes, I said it! Liar, liar, pants on fire! I need to pause here, because that is so fitting. I have said that since I was a child, but I only recently had a revelation about it. The devil, hell fire, liar-liar… If you don’t get it, don’t worry about it… LOL

Ok, pause over… 2 Corinthians 2:11 Tells us that we are not ignorant of Satan’s devices. Satan will use whatever God allows him to use, just so that he can deceive us. So, I want to warn you today to be careful of what you read, what you re-post, and what you perceive to be true because it just might be made up of nothing but lies. The devil is busy!! Don’t believe everything he is throwing your way.
