Now that Spring has sprung, we can get back to nature. Palm Sunday just passed, and Good Friday is just a couple of days away. That means Resurrection Sunday is just around the corner! I love celebrating Jesus, in case you didn’t know. He is my Lord and Savior. He died for us so we can live for Him, and that is what I try to do every day. That is why I love Resurrection Sunday. It is a day to remind us that Jesus is alive and well. Jesus rose from the dead so that death is not the end for us. Death could not hold him down, and death will not keep us true saints down either once Jesus returns to rapture His church.
Meanwhile, I have chosen ‘nature’ to be the topic for April. As you know, nature is spelled N-A-T-U-R-E, so I will present to you six aspects of nature, starting with the letter ‘N’ for Natural. You have to think of nature when you consider what is natural. Looking outside in the Springtime, it is natural to see green grass, trees with green leaves, critters that were hiding away from the cold of winter, flowers blooming, bugs that could not fly in the winter, insects that migrated indoors when it became too cold outside are back roaming the outdoors, the sun shining brightly while it is raining, and let’s not forget about more rainbows! There is a lot of beauty out in nature, so I want to encourage you to get out there and explore all of the natural things that God created for you. What is your favorite part of nature in Springtime? Tell us in the comments!
You can probably guess what the ‘A’ stands for. You guessed it: Animals. There are so many different animals in nature, depending on where you are. In some places, you can see elk, moose, wildcats, leopards, monkeys, birds, or deer. At the zoo, you can see lions, tigers, and bears. Oh my! Of course, a zoo is not a natural location, but they do try to make habitats for the animals that match their life in nature. There are many different birds that fly, like blue jays, robins and toucans; and some that don’t, like chickens, ostriches, and penguins. They all have wings, but God did not create some of them to use their wings for flying. Why? I have no idea. You can ask Hom when you meet Him in the sky. Speaking about flying versus not flying, what about those squirrels? They typically crawl on the ground and climb trees and poles, but there are some with wings that can fly. They are called flying squirrels, or more accurately “gliding rodents.” There are other animals that live only in water, like various kinds of fish, sharks, dolphins, manatees, jellyfish, and starfish. Hmmm, that got me thinking about SpongeBob SquarePants! Do you have a favorite animal? Is it a land animal, fowl, or sea creature? Let us know in the comments!
We will use the letter ‘T’ to explore Trees. I never knew there were so many types of trees. If you start with the bible, you will see there were already more than 35 different trees mentioned. We know those types of trees still exist today, so at least we can consider them as coming from nature. Of course, the individual trees themselves are gone, since trees are not known to live for thousands of years. They can certainly last for hundreds of years though. Ohio is known for popular buckeye trees. It reminds me of the buckeye tree nut, the Ohio State Buckeyes, and the buckeye candy, which looks like the buckeye tree nut. I have also seen a lot of pine trees in Ohio. While I do like pinecones, it was no fun when they fell a lot and I had to rake them up. I think California is known for palm trees, at least that seems to be the case in movies. I have never been there myself, so I am just making an assumption. Do you have a favorite tree? Let me know in the comments.
Moving on with nature, we will use the letter ‘U’ to discuss the Unity found in nature. We cannot have the cycle of life found in nature without everything working together in unity. God made it like a well-oiled machine. It amazes me what scientists have discovered, other than the nonsense about the world being here for millions of years. They want to use carbon dating, instead of using the dates mentioned in the bible. Based on the Holy Scriptures, the world came into existence closer to 2,000~ years ago. They keep trying to justify what they call the “big bang,” which was actually the voice of God speaking the world into existence. Scientists cannot fathom that, so they say a big bang happened. However, everything in the world was caused by something, and the only uncaused cause is God. He has always existed and He always will. They also do not agree with the fact that people are eternal beings who will exist forever. The life we live on earth is not all there is. When our flesh dies, our soul will be put into an eternal body that will last forever, either burning in hell or glorifying God in heaven. I believe that with all of my heart and no one can make me doubt it because I have experienced too much with Jesus already. In any case, the unity we see in nature can only come from God.
Next, I will use the letter ‘R’ to talk about Roses. Who doesn’t like roses? I am sure you have heard the quote, “Stop and smell the roses,” which basically reminds us to not be so busy all the time. Slow down and take it easy sometimes. We all need a break every now and then. Have you ever received roses as a present, perhaps on for Valentine’s Day or your birthday? My daughter recently gave me a dozen red roses when I graduated from college. They smelled so good. Of course, she did not go into nature to get them. However, they can be found in nature, as well as a lot of other flowers. Unfortunately, springtime and flowers bring about pollen that causes many people problems due to seasonal allergies. If you are one of those people, I want to warn you to be careful in nature where there are a lot of flowers, especially dandelions. Thankfully, bees pollinate roses, so their pollen rarely goes airborne, which keeps them from causing seasonal allergies. So, enjoy your Roses!
Last, but certainly not least is the letter ‘E’ for Everywhere. I chose this because nature is literally everywhere. You can thank God for that. It amazes me how people say there is no proof that God exists. Where do they think all of the beauty in the world comes from? God created it! Where do you think the complexities of the human body come from? God created them. Scientists have tried for hundreds of years to figure out how the body works, and they have failed at every turn. Yes, they have figured out bits and pieces, but they will never be able to understand the totality of a human body. In nature, there are seasons, weather phenomena, trees with nuts, trees with fruit, trees with leaves that change colors with the seasons, flowers pollinated by bees, flowers pollinated when the wind blows contributing to seasonal allergies, land animals, water animals, birds that fly, birds that cannot fly, flying insects, crawling insects, gliding squirrels, rain forests, deserts, sunshine, moonlight, clouds, elements, minerals, heat that can turn into fire, cold that can turn into ice, and humans made in the image of God. What is your favorite thing in nature? Let me know in the comments. I would have to say my favorite thing is nature is the tree colors in the fall season. What is your favorite season? Let me know in the comments. My favorite season is summer because I love the heat. Maybe it is because I was born in July. I do not like being cold, so you can imagine how I am in the winter. At some point, I hope I can fly south for the winter. 😊
