Reach the Unreachable – part 1 of 3

Are You Ready to REACH

Hello there! Welcome back! I am glad you decided to stop by! It is DECEMBER!! Yippee! I just love the holiday season in November and December. Christmas is just around the corner, giving me yet another reason to celebrate Jesus!

Sorry, let me get back on track… In my last blog I mentioned my journey to Glorified Fitness and I promised to elaborate on how physical, mental, and spiritual fitness tie into my journey. Today, I want to talk about physical fitness and how it ties into my journey.

As I am sure you already know, physical fitness deals with the health of our physical bodies. Participating in daily exercise and making healthy nutritional choices can lead to being physically fit. However, I am all to aware of the challenges and obstacles we face in today’s society that inhibits us from achieving a healthy body.  A fast-paced life can lead to fast food, which is just a fast way to an unhealthy body. Demanding desk jobs cause us to sit down on our efforts to achieve a healthy life. We tend to skip our 15-minute break to answer one more email. When we don’t take the time to pack a healthy lunch, we order our lunch to be delivered from a nearby restaurant, and all we have to do is run to fetch it from the delivery person and scoot back to our desks, so we can continue to work. When possible, we even ask someone else to grab it for us, so we can take one more phone call. Some of us work for companies that do make an effort to provide exercise tips that will keep us moving at intervals during our work day, but that still requires us to take a break, and I already mentioned that we are too busy for that. Yes, we might start off strong following the exercise tips, but it usually does not take long for us to find work as being more important.

I have even tried the home gym where I get up 30 minutes earlier in the morning because I know it is the best way to start the day, but once that demanding job began to keep me up late working extra hours, the need for sleeping those extra 30 minutes kicked in and the home gym started to collect dust. As a backup plan, I have workout DVDs that are in 12-minute increments. You would think I can find an extra 12-15 minutes in the day to work out, but once again, the demanding job got in the way and sleeping took precedence. Let’s face it, we do need our rest and if it is a choice of sleeping a little more versus exercising, I will choose to sleep more often than not. So now, the thing that was supposed to have an easy fix has somehow become unreachable. Why is that, you may ask? It is quite simple, really. We are just not motivated. We are not inspired to reach the unreachable because we are missing something that will either jump start our exercise, or will keep us motivated once we do get started.

On my journey, I have learned that the missing piece is the spiritual component. Adding a spiritual element to our exercise can cause us to go the extra mile to strive for better health. It is a proven fact that when you add a spiritual component to whatever you are doing, you can achieve and maintain greater success. So, what are you waiting for? I’m starting a #GlorifiedFitness movement to change the way we exercise. Won’t you join me? You’re halfway there already!

Until we meet again, I pray blessings for your life! Merry Christmas!
