Welcome back! Thanks for stopping by! I have a question? Why do we go from “Thank God It’s Friday (TGIF) to fearing Friday the 13th? Why is Friday no longer a good thing if the date is the 13th of the month?
Well, I did a little research into this Friday the 13th superstition, and it is not just about the movie that has the same name, and a character named Jason, wearing a hockey mask… People really believe they will have bad luck on Friday the 13th! Some people blame this nonsense on the Last Supper where Jesus had his last meal with His 12 disciples before He was crucified the next day, which we now call Good Friday. I call that utter nonsense because having 13 people sitting at the dinner table is not what caused Jesus to be crucified! In addition, there are plenty more days within each year that fall on the 13th, and yet we don’t worry about black cats, broken mirrors, or cracks in the sidewalk on those days! Besides, what if Good Friday lands on the 13th? Are people going to focus more on the Good or the 13th? My guess is that with the fear people have come to hold on to, the Good will not win on that day…
Personally, I don’t believe in luck, good or bad, because I believe that God is in control of everything, and the choices we make determine the consequences, good or bad. I am not about to walk around in fear of a DAY just because it is Friday the 13th. It is just another day to me. And if Good Friday ever does fall on the 13th, the Good will definitely win! To God be all the glory!
Until we meet again, I pray blessings for your life! #TGIF
